Integrity and Honesty Count

I’m writing to encourage voters to support Christine Goupil for first selectman and Tim Guerra and Jack Scherban for Board of Selectmen. These candidates have the experience we need! Christine has been a small business owner; she’s worked internationally on project management and urban planning, and brings professionalism and dedication to the job. She has been a steadfast member of the Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) for eight years and served on numerous other committees and projects. I’ve known Tim Guerra since I moved to Clinton more than 20 years ago. Tim has been a volunteer on many fronts, from coaching Little League to sitting on PZC. Tim has a strong moral compass; he’s thoughtful and committed to doing what is best for everyone. Jack Scherban, chair of the Board of Finance, is hardworking and dedicated with deep roots in Clinton and is one of the sanest people I know.

What Clinton desperately needs are leaders with integrity. Development projects that advance individual interests cannot be the standard for moving this town forward. We have amazing natural resources and, if managed sensibly, could serve this town well for future generations. We need to advance people who have shown good judgment, are honest, and demonstrate respect for process and people. Let’s focus on sustainable development that can sensibly grow our tax base without jeopardizing the quality of life in Clinton.

These are difficult times, but integrity and honesty count; our children need leaders they can look up to. The politics of division benefit very few people. I’m very pleased that an individual’s experience, professionalism, and expertise are the basis for qualifications for Democratic candidates. Let’s put these professional upstanding members of our community in Town Hall and become the jewel of the shoreline. I encourage your readers to vote Row A.
