Experience and Good Judgment

I am pleased to share my support for the many talented, committed individuals who make up the Democratic slate for this year’s municipal elections.

First selectman candidate Matt Hoey has served 24 years as chairman of the Board of Finance and his experience and good judgment are evident in the fact that Guilford is not facing a reduction in its bond rating due to state budget uncertainty. Guilford planned ahead!

The two other selectmen candidates are Louis Federici and Sandy Ruoff. Lou, whom I have known personally for nearly 30 years, is one of the most committed civic leaders that I know. He, too, is a finance board veteran. Sandy Ruoff, long time director of the Guilford Free Library, has been an active member of the Guilford community as well.

Ken Gamerman seeks to return to the Board of Finance after having served six terms as vice chair. Veronica Wallace, an accounting professional and another Board of Finance candidate, has years of experience on the Board of Selectmen and others boards and commissions. I first met her on the Guilford 375th anniversary committee.

Mary Best and Moira Rader are talented professionals with a history of working for quality education. Guilford will be well served by their service on the Board of Education.

Finally, Arnold Skretta, an attorney by profession, chose to come to this town after falling in love with it. He seeks a seat on the Board of Assessment Appeals.

I encourage your readers to join me in supporting Guilford’s Democratic slate on Nov. 7.
