Ken MacKenzie will bring not only energy and expertise but a fresh viewpoint to the position of first selectman. Mr. MacKenzie’s investigation into the details of our town’s cash account showed he believes it is earning an interest rate below what should be expected. This substantial loss of interest income would have been useful in helping to reduce Guilford’s ever-increasing tax burden. Although our taxes have funded projects that have aided in making our town special, we should not squander our opportunities.
