As Passionate as Ever

I’ve dedicated my life to serving the residents of East Haven and I am seeking re-election as mayor because I continue to be passionate about keeping our community an affordable, safe, and beautiful place to live, work, and raise a family.

During my first 10 years in office, my team and I led East Haven off the state’s Distressed Municipalities List and took us from one of the most indebted towns in the state to a model of fiscal responsibility. During that time, we balanced 10 budgets, increased funding to education by more than $17 million, and paved and repaired thousands of linear feet of streets, sidewalks, and curbing across Town. We also completed a host of public safety projects, including instituting 24/7 paramedic support, a program that began saving lives the day it was implemented.

During my absence from office between 2007 and 2011, I grew frustrated with our community’s fiscal and social troubles. The town ran three deficits, taxes skyrocketed, education was flat-funded, and our Police Department was mired in controversy. In 2011, I made the decision to seek re-election because I knew my team and I could make our community both prosperous and proud once again.

Since resuming office, we’ve stabilized taxes, balanced six budgets, and paid off 48 percent of our debt. We’ve allocated $3.4 million to education and invested $9.6 million in infrastructure. At the same time, we’ve also revolutionized our Police Department, which is now a model for others across the country.

I take great pride in my record as mayor and I remain as passionate as ever about serving the community I love. I am asking for residents’ trust and support on election day so that I can continue protecting, serving, and leading our great community.
