A Very Challenging Time

Leadership is critical in challenging times. Integrity is critical in challenging times. The capability to listen is critical in challenging times. Discipline is needed in challenging times. The ability to not only plan but communicate effectively is critical in challenging times. Madison is facing a very challenging time. There are decisions that need to be made that will require leadership, integrity, discipline, planning, and communication. The people that will ensure this happens are Democrats Al Goldberg and Scott Murphy for the Board of Selectmen, Jude Hession Friedman for the Board of Finance ,and Alison Keating, Matt Parthasarthy, and Emily Rosenthal for the Board of Education.

Al and Scott have been tireless in their efforts to make sure that transparency, planning, and integrity remain integral parts of the Board of Selectmen. They know how to stand up for what’s right. Jude brings a wealth of knowledge to the Board of Finance, having served on the town’s three pension committees as well as the Board of Assessment Appeals. She’ll bring a discipline that’s required in a difficult and often complex budget process. Madison will need these champions in the coming years.

Alison, Matt, and Emily individually have what it takes to set the Board of Education on the right path, but together they are unstoppable. They’ll bring openness to the decision-making process with consideration of all voices. They support long-term, strategic investments for exceptional education that engages all the stakeholders—administrators, teachers, parents, and children. In other words, they bring leadership, open planning, and effective communication.

Now more than ever we need public servants who will work for all of Madison. I am proud of the slate of Democrats who have volunteered to serve our wonderful community. I encourage your readers to join me in voting for them on Nov. 7.
