Strategic Decision-Making

“Exceptional times call for exceptional people.” This is the message brought forward by the Madison Republican Town Committee (MRTC) in this year’s municipal election.

As chairman of the MRTC, I support all of the Republican candidates on the ballot and I encourage your readers to do the same at the polls on Nov. 7. There is a key reason why they deserve support: All possess the proven ability of critical thinking and strategic decision-making. This trait requires the ability to see what is not known, to seek answers, to explore details, and to then determine optimum outcomes. With the current exceptional backdrop of general budget uncertainties and hard choices for the future of our schools, we need representatives on our boards and commissions with this trait.

Our slate includes experienced candidates running for re-election. These candidates are Tom Banisch for first selectman, Bruce Wilson, Jr., for selectman, Jessica Bowler for Board of Education, Jeanne Stevens and Bill Piggott for Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), Charon Squitiero for ZBA alternate, and Bill Lewis for Board of Assessment Appeals.

Jean Ferris, well known for years of community service leadership and professional banking experience, is a first-time candidate for Board of Selectman. Jean Fitzgerald is seeking to bring to the Board of Finance her experience as chairperson of the Board of Education and Madison’s Capital Improvement Program Committee. Similarly, Ken Kaminsky, a sitting ZBA member, is seeking to bring years of financial experience to the Board of Finance. We are proud to support Peter Roos, a corporate banking executive vice president, in his run for Board of Finance. Dr. Violet McNerney and Kirk Barneby have a passion for education and are exceptional individuals seeking Board of Education seats.

Complete profiles of our slate are available on the MRTC facebook page, www.facebook.com/madisonctrepublicans.
