Leadership and Expertise

Killingworth needs Gwenne Celmer and Annie Stirna on our Board of Finance.

Gwenne Celmer brings leadership and a wealth of experience to the Board of Finance, having served on the board for the past 12 years. She understands the board’s responsibilities as defined by the town’s charter and has a thorough knowledge of the town’s budgeting process. Gwenne has proven to be fiscally conservative while supporting the best interests of all our residents. She anticipates and plans for changes in our budgets—a critical skill in today’s uncertain state environment.

Killingworth also needs Annie Stirna’s accounting expertise. Annie is seeking her first term on the board and comes fully qualified. For the past 20 years, she has owned her own accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, and budgeting business. Previously, she worked as corporate controller for several local businesses, including TPA Books (the owner of Atticus Bookstores and Chabaso Bakeries). Particularly with the state’s fiscal woes, the board will need to rely on Annie’s accounting background to closely monitor the town’s revenues with operating and capital expenses.

I believe Gwenne Celmer and Annie Stirna are highly qualified candidates for Killingworth’s Board of Finance. Their individual and combined talents will serve our town well in the face of any fiscal challenges ahead. I encourage your readers to vote for both on Nov. 7.
