It Very Much Matters

I would like to introduce Jeannine Lewis, candidate for judge of probate, to Killingworth’s voters. The Probate Court for our region, which has its offices in Old Saybrook, is an institution that we tend not to think about until the day that we need it, but when we need it, we really need it.

The person elected to the office of Judge of Probate is the one elected official likely to have the most intimate impact on you, your family, your life. The sorts of issues that lead us to the Probate Court are among the most challenging ones that we ever face, often literally matters of life and death, and they demand not just competence but dedication as well as compassion. It very much matters who occupies this post. Attorney Lewis is a natural for it; her career embodies all of the values that the position of probate judge demands.

Lewis has dedicated herself to the development of probate law in Connecticut, volunteering her time to educate her fellow attorneys and law clerks in the latest developments in the field, especially as regards veterans and the elderly. She is cut out of the same mold as retiring Judge Terrance Lomme, who served us so well for so many years. Attorney Lewis would make an excellent judge of probate, and I am pleased to strongly recommend a vote for her on Nov. 7.
