Independent, Thoughtful, and Professional

The Clinton Board of Finance has the last say in how our tax dollars are spent; it is the ultimate guardian of our financial future. It is not a board to which we should elect amateurs or friends. Rather, it is critical that its members be independent, thoughtful, and professional individuals who understand the importance of what they do; Dara Onofrio is that kind of individual.

A native of New Haven, she graduated from SCSU with a degree in chemistry, studied in Italy, and went on to earn her law degree. She’s been busy ever since: became a partner in a prominent New York City law firm, started her own intellectual property law practice, joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary, was a village justice for nine years and was president of the Rockland Women’s Network. Currently she serves on the Clinton Design Review Board. There’s a lot more, but you get the picture.

Dara is smart, trained, dedicated, energetic, and proven. She obviously has the technical skills and education to successfully execute her duties on the Board of Finance, but more important, she understands the trust that folks have put in her if she is elected. As a village justice, she demonstrated empathy and fairness as well as solid understanding of what was right and what wasn’t. A judge needs balance, the patience to hear sides, and respect for the rule of law and working for the common good. These attributes will serve her—and all of Clinton—extremely well as a member of the board.

Clinton is blessed to have people such as Dara move here. She’s a great asset to Clinton and she will be great asset on the Board of Finance. I encourage your readers to vote for Dara Onofrio on Nov. 7.
