Guidance Through Hard Times

I have known First Selectman Bruce Farmer for many years. He is very honest with inner strength. He works tirelessly and brings his expertise to all challenges, projects, and budget issues. He avoids over-expenditures and mis-allocations and focuses on the town’s best interests. He is humble and does not seek praise. He is calm and considerate, interested only in being helpful to resolve any situation and works long hours into evenings with boards and commissions and is on call 24/7.

His efforts are encumbered by unforeseen financial events not of his making, such as infrastructure projects in the town that previous administrations had neglected. The safety hazards of three bridges grew to a point that the state decreed they be replaced. The voters approved an infrastructure package of $7.1 million for three bridges, road repairs, boat ramp, dredging, and new Morgan sidewalk.

The state’s poor financial picture sharply reduced allocations to the town and our schools. Bruce worked with other towns to challenge the state and has testified at the capitol. The new Morgan bonding payments started this year as well.

In his first term he reduced town costs using cost benefit analysis and consolidation of services strategies. We need his guidance through hard times and I encourage your readers to support him and, writing his name in box “2e” along with filling in the oval in the same box, to re-elect Bruce Farmer for first selectman.
