Fiscal Transparency a Must

As a lifelong Old Saybrook resident who is unsatisfied with what’s going on in town politics today, I have great admiration for the credentials and ethics that Carol Conklin brings to the Board of Selectmen.

With Carol as a member of the board, I know that our local businesses will be represented and that teamwork will be encouraged.

Carol is dedicated to serving the residents of Old Saybrook and is committed to improving the community. She intends to promote better utilization of resources. I find this refreshing at a time when politicians seem to spend taxpayer dollars indiscriminately.

Ms. Conklin feels that fiscal transparency is a must. The customer service skills and lessons she gained as a business person translate well to the way she operates on the board.

In short, Carol Conklin wants to strengthen the business community and restore the small-town friendliness of Old Saybrook. As my father (former first selectman Roger Goodnow) did, Carol feels that the purpose of local government is to create an environment in which its residents and small businesses can succeed.

I am voting for Carol Conklin for Old Saybrook Board of Selectmen and encourage others to do the same on Nov. 7.
