Diverse, Enlightened, and Compelling

With the national political scene in such disarray, it’s refreshing to live in a small town where our elected officials work collaboratively and place community wellbeing over self. Quality of life is one of the key reasons that we chose Essex as our home after relocating from Greater Philadelphia 20 years ago—and why I’m still willing to commute almost six hours round-trip to my real office in Manhattan at least three days weekly.

Norm Needleman and Stacia Libby, as selectmen, have been grounded, level-headed catalysts for a balanced, surprise-free budget; excellent municipal services; and an acclaimed school system. Their Democratic slate, which includes four women, engages two newcomers in Kate Sandmann (for Region 4 Board of Education), the active, engaged parent of two model Region 4 graduates; and Jeannine Lewis (for judge of probate in the 33rd District), a crackerjack local trust and estate attorney who literally wrote the book on Connecticut probate law. It’s the most diverse, enlightened, and compelling line-up I can remember.

Sound governance begins right here at home, and I’m proud to endorse Norm, Stacia, Jim, Megan, Ethan, Jeannine, Kate, Loretta, Mark, Joel, and Keith to represent Essex as a bright spot in Connecticut. Get out the vote!
