Compassion, Knowledge, and Experience

In the last few years, my husband and I have buried four parents. Anyone who has lost a loved one can attest: Probate is a difficult and emotional process, with complexities often unforeseen. Compassion, knowledge, and experience are crucial, both to the successful outcome and to alleviate the often traumatic emotions of the process. This election we have a clear choice for probate judge.

Jeannine Lewis has decades of experience, spending her entire legal career on probate matters and serving on 144 probate cases. Jeannine also was appointed to develop the Standards of Practice for Connecticut Conservators for Probate, was a co-author of the training manual Court Appointed Attorneys in Courts of Probate on how to represent compromised individuals with intellectual or other limits, and was the chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee on Elder Law.

End of life issues will impact us all, Democrat and Republican. There should be no politics in this vote. (In fact, political views don’t matter to the rules and regulations anyway.) The death of a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences of anyone’s life. Probate Court shouldn’t be.

I encourage your readers to vote for Jeannine Lewis as our probate judge. This is a critical job for our community, and we deserve the best.
