Clear Thinking and Innovation

I strongly endorse Ken MacKenzie for first selectman. He is the right person for the job at this time, and I encourage your readers to elect him on Nov. 7.

Government, at all levels, seems to always develop an inner circle, an incumbency, an old guard. We need be concerned about the expected loss of funding from the state, which also seeks to push the cost of teachers’ pensions onto municipalities, and with our state in such disarray who knows what else is in store.

This gathering tsunami needs to be addressed with clear thinking and innovation if property owners are not to be hit hard. We are going to require a fresh approach, and Ken MacKenzie has the expertise to provide this.

After serving on the Board of Finance, Ken believes we can save money while still maintaining our excellent school system and preserving all town services that we enjoy, by spending carefully. Ken has a personal interest in Guilford schools, with two young children attending.

Ken is not of the old guard, he will not be a “go along to get along” first selectman. He will bring his laser vision to seek out wasteful spending where ever it can be found, and eliminate it.

Ken will use his experience from a career in finance to bring professional oversight to our town’s spending.

I hope your readers will elect Ken MacKenzie on Nov. 7.
