Acts on Principles

I have known Owen Charles for several years as a neighbor and a friend. During that time I have come to know him as a passionate advocate of ethical and transparent government. I have always been impressed with his commitment to all those issues that so many of us espouse but for various reasons are not able to commit the time to enact. Owen Charles acts on his principles.

As a former member of the Board of Finance who also has an advanced business degree, Owen Charles will be an excellent member of the new Board of Finance. He has worked for companies where he has learned how to allocate limited resources in the fairest way possible. This background will allow Owen to bring both his practical skills, as well as his principles, to bear on issues facing Madison. He is running as a Green Party candidate, not bound by the restrictions of the traditional two major parties. As such, he is a breath of fresh air in Madison politics.

Some of Owen Charles’s important stances are: opposition to selling off Academy School to a private developer; fostering more public comment on issues that affect the residents of Madison; and increasing availability of affordable housing for our seniors.

I hope readers won’t sit out this election in November. It is far more important than many realize!
