A Master Organizer

As Connecticut navigates through its difficult economic challenges, Madison will become increasingly dependent on strong local leadership. We need to move past partisan bickering and find creative solutions to the challenges we face. We need leaders like Scott Murphy to continue his work as selectman for all our citizens.

I have known Scott Murphy since my sons’ Little League days. Scott served as the president of Madison Little league for 10 years. In a town where focus on sports can take priority over common sense, Scott was the model of enthusiastic leadership. He is a master organizer and problem solver. He not only maximized the enjoyment for the players and coaches, but kept the administrative posts filled and functioning. Madison baseball’s reputation, facilities improvements, and overall success are in no small part due to his efforts. Furthermore, he accomplished this without generating animus—no small feat in town with such sports passion!

Scott Murphy’s leadership abilities will prove invaluable while serving as selectman when he is re-elected this November. The tough choices our community will face begin, but do not end, with our school facilities and redistricting. Knowing that Scott Murphy will be arguing in favor of rational and pragmatic solutions should be comforting to all.
