Innovation, Energy, and Dedication

I strongly support Cathy Iino for first selectman of Killingworth. Cathy builds strong collaborations among parents, schools, and community organizations and works hard to support children and schools throughout our town. I say this as a mother of four young children, a PTO member, a teacher, and an active volunteer in many community organizations in town.

My husband is a Coast Guard officer, and our family has moved every three to four years. We’ve been fortunate to call Killingworth our home for the last two years, and we love the community we’ve found here.

I met Cathy while on a run in Chatfield Hollow when I first moved to Killingworth. I got lost and was lucky enough to run into Cathy, who gave me directions out of the park. She has been my local compass ever since!

Cathy cares about our children and families. For example, she worked with the dedicated people of this town to give us an improved Sheldon Playground (with an accessible walking path) and the new playground at the Eric Auer Park. These gathering places have been wonderful to meet with other families and friends in town. That’s the leadership we need—innovation, energy, and dedication to get the job done.

Cathy also shares my love for conservation and the environment. I was concerned at the lack of recycling at Killingworth Elementary School (KES). Cathy heard my concerns and encouraged me to join the town’s Conservation Commission. She alerted me to available grants and connected me with school administrators. I’m proud to report that because of this partnership and Cathy’s leadership, KES started this school year with a full recycling program.

I encourage your readers to join me on Nov. 7 to cast their ballot for a proven leader and incredible person, Cathy Iino.
