Honesty, Integrity, and Experience

As Clinton’s municipal election draws closer, I encourage your readers to learn a little something about their candidates. In an effort to rise above recent negative campaigning, I’d like to tell voters who I am and what I represent.

I’ve lived here for 39 years. My sons, Dylan and Jason, were born here and are fourth-generation Clintonians. Jason and his wife, Meredith, recently added baby Maris to their family; she begins generation five. That’s sincere dedication to Clinton.

Since 1978, I worked in two family businesses. At the same time I used my degree in education to substitute teach and tutor homebound students for the Board of Education. I stayed busy in the schools and the school community in many ways. I’ve always supported Clinton schools and teachers. I have been one.

I’ve also been actively involved with various diabetes support organizations for 30 years and worked part-time at the Henry Carter Hull Library for 14 years. Free time activities have included volunteering at the 1630 House for 10 years and Clinton’s 350th Anniversary Celebration committee. I enjoy hiking in the woods with my dogs, kayaking, watercolors, and every type of needlecraft.

My political career began in 2007. In 2009 I was elected to the Board of Selectmen. I’ve continued to win re-election because of my conservative voting record and my reputation for honesty. I’ve never filed a self-serving vote or benefited personally from any action of the Board of Selectmen, and I’ve never forgotten that I represent the people. I only want the best services and education for Clinton, but I also see no reason to overspend while doing that.

I’m seeking re-election because I know that I bring honesty, integrity, and experience to the Board of Selectmen. I encourage your readers to vote for me on Nov. 7.
