Even-Tempered, Dedicated, and Tenacious

If ever there were a time for a fiscally responsible leader, one with experience, patience, and a record for getting things done, that time is now, and Matt Hoey is that leader.

National and state-level political chaos has created financial uncertainty for us. As chairman of the Board of Finance (BOF) for most of the 25 years I’ve lived here, Matt has supported needed programs, services and infrastructure while driving the increase in Guilford’s credit rating to AAA. While state and other municipal pension funds are at risk, ours is healthy, as is our rainy day fund, a true feat when many other towns are barely getting by.

Not only has Matt worked tirelessly leading the BOF, but he also found time from demanding corporate roles to volunteer with the PTA/PTO and coach youth sports while raising his family here. Matt is an experienced, even-tempered, dedicated, and tenacious leader. He has proven time and again that listening, mutual respect and bipartisan efforts will get the job done when the goal is doing what’s right for Guilford and its citizens.

Though I have respected and appreciated all of Matt’s work on behalf of our town and its citizens, I’m particularly thankful for his support of the project that will bring clean water to my neighborhood and two others where many wells are contaminated or inadequate. Matt did what many others before him wouldn’t. He listened to and acknowledged the issues, studied the data, and worked with colleagues from both parties to help move the project to a town-wide vote.

We don’t need more drama, divisive politics, arrogance, or hollow promises. Guilford needs a man with integrity, a strong, fiscally responsible leader with a sound vision for our collective future. That’s why Matt Hoey has my vote in November.
