Does What Is Right

“Winter is coming” is a favorite phrase from the Game of Thrones. Well, winter is coming to the State of Connecticut and to towns like Killingworth. A bipartisan budget was passed, but our governor vetoed it, leaving towns to face difficult financial decisions. This is why I support Fred Dudek for first selectman of Killingworth.

Fred has lived in Killingworth for more than 50 years and devoted his life in service to our town, from his present role as selectman for 13 years and Board of Finance for eight years prior. He has been a member of our Volunteer Fire Company for 44 years, serving as fire chief for 17. He was inducted into the Connecticut Firefighters Hall of Fame and works to recruit and train volunteer firefighters statewide. He served as director of Killingworth Ambulance Association and volunteers at Parmelee Farm. In 1991, he was selected “Citizen of the Year” and is a Navy veteran.

Fred supports our schools, knowing how to spend wisely when necessary. Fred epitomizes the “Killingworth Values” phrase on his campaign signs. He knows how to preserve our rural character, while taking advantage of opportunities that make financial sense. Regardless of party affiliation, Fred does what is right for Killingworth.

Difficult choices lie ahead. There is no one I’d rather have leading our town in these difficult financial times ahead than Fred Dudek. “Why change?” is a phrase I often hear. Well the State of Connecticut is broke, and the current state administration is pushing these debts onto towns like ours. Think hard about who’s best equipped to guide us in the years ahead. For me, Fred Dudek is that person. Uniquely qualified, known statewide, volunteerism, Killingworth values, and what’s best for Killingworth are at his core.
