A Mere Microcosm

For although he’s served on the Board of Finance, Planning & Zoning Commission, and our Economic Development Commission—and you’ve heard him speak at public hearings and read his letters to the editor—these are a mere microcosm of what Kirk Carr does for Clinton.

An active member of non-partisan Clinton Placemakers, Kirk organized raffles and events to bridge the Clinton Art Gallery’s funding gap and established a tax-deductible fund to jumpstart the town’s Sailing Club.

For Clinton’s Bike & Pedestrian Alliance, he established a tax-deductible initiative to fund a footbridge over the Indian River to Indian River Recreational Complex, and for Morgan’s Political Club, Families Helping Families, Clinton Sailing Club, and the Clinton Family Film Festival, he personally produced 13x19 posters to promote their activities.

Kirk has video recorded more than 470 meetings of our boards, commissions, committees, and public hearings and posted them on YouTube as Kirkxter, where 49,000-plus views have provided vital information to those of you that could not attend.

As an IRS certified income tax preparer, he volunteers 10 hours a week from February to mid-April at the library, assisting people with their tax returns.

In conclusion, Kirk has filed numerous Freedom of Information requests, at his own expense, with the State of Connecticut and the towns of Clinton and Guilford and routinely reminds the Board of Selectmen about the charter provisions and state statutes they violate—a true watchdog.
