A Critical Component

Tom Banisch hit the deck running when he was elected to the first selectman’s office. He continues to be energetic regarding his vision for Madison. He has demonstrated his desire to improve our town through economic development while being fiscally responsible.

One clear example was to put a focus on and end the ill-conceived Shoreline Arts Alliance (SAA) pursuit of Academy Street School. While noble in its endeavor, SAA did not have the financial foundation needed to fund this plan. Madison citizens would have had to bear the burden for many years without promise of success. Tom has integrated our citizens for ideas in town meetings and now is meeting with financially sound developers for their inputs and proposals to bring back Academy Street School without financial pain to the town. Successful development of Academy Street School will be a critical component to the future of Madison.

It is clear that Tom loves Madison and works tirelessly and creatively to improve our town’s position, keeping it vibrant and attractive to newcomers.

Given the poor condition of our state financially, with reduced and/or eliminated funding to towns like Madison, we need leaders like Tom Banisch to offset these negative effects.
