Two Outstanding Candidates

It’s my honor to support two outstanding candidates for the Board of Selectmen, Susan Renner and Charles Havrda. Susan is a certified public accountant and graduate of UConn. Since 1992 she has been treasurer of American Cruise Lines, the largest U.S. cruise company. For the past eight years Susan has served on the Board of Education and is currently Operations Committee chairman. Throughout her tenure on the board, she has been well respected by colleagues and the community. Susan’s past community involvement includes service on the Tax Stabilization Committee and Guilford Rotary, where she served as treasurer. She has also been a CCD instructor in the Religious Education System at St. George Church, a school volunteer for the Little Folks Fair, and chair of the Project Graduation Committee. Susan is intelligent, dedicated to serving the Town of Guilford, and would make an excellent member of the Board of Selectmen.

Charles Havrda has been a member of the Board of Selectmen for the past eight years and in that capacity has served as second selectman. An independent thinker, Charles carefully weighs every decision he makes, taking into account all viewpoints and eventually makes his decision based on what he believes is best for the town and its residents. A former small businessman, Charles also represents Guilford on the Regional Water Authority and is chairman of the Guilford Savings Bank Board of Trustees. Over the years, Charles has been an outstanding member of the community and has served on numerous boards and commissions including the Economic Development, Planning & Zoning, Inland Wetlands, and Charter Revision commissions and Emergency Services Building Committee as well as the YMCA Board of Directors and their building committee.

The town would be well served by re-electing Charles Havrda and electing Susan Renner to the Board of Selectmen.
