Transparency and Ethical Leadership

This year was a first for Clinton with two primaries. Sadly however, it was not a first for the mudslinging and dirty politics as demonstrated by Kirk Carr and Phil Sengle. After years of losing and failing to garner support from the GOP because of their negative strategy and dirty political games, they have managed to finagle people into supporting them by making them believe that Bruce Farmer is responsible for a 10 percent hike in our taxes. They know that these increases were a result of $60 million in debt, insurance increases, and obligations that he inherited. He fought hard to reduce spending and it was Kirk Carr and the Board of Finance that had the final responsibility to make further cuts and instead the Board of Finance added money in to the budget and passed that along to the taxpayers and then pointed the finger at Bruce Farmer.

Bruce Farmer has ensured transparency and ethical leadership. He continues to fight for our funding in Hartford. In less than two years, he has accomplished so much and he has long terms plans for reducing our tax burden. He rarely gets credit, but he should be credited with the upcoming train station expansion, new buyers for the old Morgan site, and approval for another downtown streetscape. The Town Hall, downtown, and marinas have never looked better. There is positive change happening, not by maligning the opposing party or glad-handing and photo ops. This first selectman is working collaboratively and dedicating countless hours doing the heavy lifting that is required. If we vote him back in, he will continue to move us in a positive direction.
