Practical, Responsible, and Prioritized

This November, voters in Clinton have a unique opportunity to change the way our town looks and operates. The historic primary election last month was indicative of what voters in this town want: They want a government that actually listens to them and responds to their needs and concerns with a practical, responsible, and prioritized focus on the town’s the bottom line.

Taxes are an important investment in any community, but they have become incredibly divisive in Clinton. The heaviest tax burden falls on residents because economic/commercial development has lagged. The reality is no one wants to pay more in taxes, but we have to take care of each other as a community. That includes providing services—some that benefit all, some that benefit only a few—but that is what a community does.

Democratic candidate Christine Goupil understands these two competing sides of the tax issue and has committed to economic development as her top priority to resolve the inherent conflict. She brings extensive project management discipline and expertise, along with a strong commitment to doing the outreach, to prioritize these projects and make them a reality. With Christine’s focus on economic development in the town, we have the best chance to ease the current tax burden on residents while providing our neighbors with the quality services that allow us to shine as a community.

The team of candidates that the Clinton Democrats has endorsed is a team that will work together, bring professional qualifications to our boards, and communicate and collaborate with each other to get results. I support the full slate of Democratic candidates because I know they will work together to help Clinton turn the corner professionally, transparently, and with vision. For a bright future in Clinton, I encourage your readers to support the Democrats.
