A Real Child Advocate

I am writing to endorse Dr. Violet McNerney for Madison Board of Education member. I have worked with Violet for 16 years. Over the years I have had the opportunity to know Violet personally as well as professionally.

Our children (now young adults) attended Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) around the same time and as such, we often discussed the educational and extracurricular programs at DHHS. We both appreciate the excellent educational experiences that our children had in Madison. As a former special education teacher and now the career coordinator, I have sat in on Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings while Violet presents her findings on student evaluations. As a school psychologist, Violet always has the best interests of students when making educational recommendations. She is a real child advocate and a team player among the faculty and staff. She treats all people respectfully and has the ability to listen to and appreciate various perspectives.

As a long-time resident of Madison, and mother of four, Violet is very concerned with fiscal responsibility. She now hopes to use her skills and expertise to help the Madison schools become an even better place for the students of this town. I encourage your readers to consider voting for Violet on Nov. 7!
