Wonderful, Welcoming, and Well-Managed

My family and I moved to Old Saybrook four years ago. I spent the first 60 years of my life in New Britain and decided to make the move in preparation for retirement. What I first noticed about the town was the friendly outgoing nature of my new community. My wife believed it was a special place and so did I.

Part of what makes Old Saybrook special is the way the town is governed. Our first selectman, Carl Fortuna, has guided the town to financial stability while many communities and our state are floundering. With the assistance of Selectman Scott Giegerich and Treasurer Robert Fish, Old Saybrook is well managed and enjoys a low, stable mill rate. Taking pride in my new community and wanting to get involved and be a part of this dynamic team, I joined the Republican Town Committee and was appointed to the Inland Wetlands Commission three years ago.

This summer I was asked to seek a seat on the Board of Finance. I accepted and I am now a candidate for the board on the Fortuna/Giegerich/Fish team. During my time in New Britain, I served for 10 years on the City Council, 8 years on the Board of Education, and was the president of the Board of the New Britain Public Library. I am employed by the State of Connecticut, performing analysis on rates and revenues for public utilities. I feel my background will serve the Board of Finance well.

Old Saybrook is a wonderful, welcoming, and well-managed town and I would like to offer my experience and abilities for consideration.
