Strong Belief in Community

We have the opportunity in the upcoming Killingworth November elections to elect new members to the H-K Board of Education 9BOE). As a current BOE member, I understand the importance of electing qualified and dedicated people to those positions. Eileen Blewett is such a person and I enthusiastically endorse her for a position on the BOE.

For those who don’t know her yet, Eileen was raised in Ridgefield, and attended public schools there. Following graduation, she attended Boston College, earning a B.A. in economics. She and her husband, Todd, chose to settle in Killingworth to start their family because of the small-town values and sense of community here. Now 20 years later, all four of their children have attended RSD 17 schools from kindergarten through graduation from Haddam-Killingworth High School.

Eileen has stayed active in the Killingworth community, over the years serving in capacities with the Killingworth Nursery School, Killingworth Elementary School PTO, Haddam-Killingworth Middle School PTO, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Killingworth Scholarship Committee, RSD 17 Curriculum Council, Project Graduation Decorating Committee, HK Backpack Program and the Killingworth Women’s Organization. As you can see, she has a strong belief in community service that supports our town’s youth.

Eileen spent nine years working in RSD 17 schools in positions as a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional, and as a one-on-one paraprofessional in special education. The time she spent in the school system gave her important, firsthand understanding of how our schools operate that the BOE needs.

Eileen will bring experience and passion to the H-K Board of Education, which will be needed as Connecticut’s schools navigate the immense financial pressures now and in the future. I encourage Killingworth residents to cast their vote with Eileen Blewett in the November elections.
