Increases Are Unsustainable

I am concerned about the fiscal train wreck in Connecticut, which will filter down to Guilford in the way of higher property taxes. Guilford has increased spending by more than 70 percent since 2002, which has spurred yearly tax increases of 2.5 to 3 percent. These continued increases are unsustainable over the long term, especially for voters like myself that are retired and live on fixed incomes. I fear being taxed out of Guilford and my home.

I believe Ken MacKenzie is the only candidate who can cut frivolous and unnecessary spending while preserving education, vital services and the senior tax relief program. Ken believes spending can be reined in so that all residents can continue to live here. I encourage all Guilford voters to seek change and support Ken MacKenzie for first selectman.
