Guarantee Continued Vigilance

The results are in and change in Clinton officially begins now. Regardless of how the election in November plays out, with a minimum of four brand new selectmen, things will be anything but business as usual.

First and foremost, I want to thank voters for their confidence in me and their continued support. I appreciate each and every vote and will continue to work hard to maintain that trust. I want to express appreciation and thanks to Bruce Farmer, John Giannotti, Lynn Marie Pinder, and William Fritz, Jr., for their difficult, intelligent work; their commitment to their roles; and their dedication to Clinton.

Congratulations go to Kirk Carr and Christine Goupil. This is how democracy works. Voters wanted change and change is coming.

One thing that’ll never change is my commitment to represent your readers. Like most Clinton residents, I, too, struggle to pay my taxes; I decide daily whether to keep my home or not. I make tough decisions between wants and needs. Every day I live within my means and I do everything possible to ensure Clinton does, too. I thoroughly examine every expenditure the town makes. I have a very conservative track record.

Recently criticism was leveled at the Board of Selectmen (BOS) for this year’s tax increase. This increase was a direct result of the costs of the new Morgan coming due. Taxpayers voted to approve the school several years ago and (theoretically) understood this cost would eventually appear in their tax bills. That time has arrived. To have laid the blame at the feet of the BOS was unjust and misinformed. I’d never have allowed such a tax increase, but money borrowed must be repaid.

On Nov 7, I encourage your readers to vote for me to guarantee continued vigilance in Town Hall.
