Experience, Knowledge, and Service

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, I encourage your readers to re-elect First Selectman Lauren Gister and Selectman Charlene Janecek, Democratic incumbents whose experience, knowledge, and service to Chester deserve residents’ votes for a second term.

During the past two years, their accomplishments include projects to improve the safety and preservation of our historic Meeting House, expansion of Chester Elementary School’s solar power system, conversion of town streetlights to energy-efficient LEDs, and the insulation of town buildings, which together will reduce energy costs by a half million dollars over the next decade. Additional projects include working with the Main Street Committee to advance the next phase of Town Center improvements and reconstituting the Cedar Lake Watershed Committee to maintain the lake’s water quality. These activities, as well as the daily management of town services, are being delivered within the framework of a sparse operating budget which may receive less state revenue in the future.

I encourage Chester’s voters to re-elect Lauren Gister and Charlene Janecek because they have shown that by listening to residents and businesses, and working with volunteer boards and commissions, the vitality and quality of Chester will continue to endure.
