Economic Development the Linchpin

I am writing to encourage Clinton residents to vote for Christine Goupil for first selectman in November.

We’ve been going through a period of stagnation, even regression, in Clinton these past few years. When we built the new high school, we were assured that the town could get about $5 million for the old property. We settled for about half of that. Now that deal has fallen through, and how many years has it been since Chesebrough-Pond’s closed its doors? Yet we’re still waiting for a constructive plan to utilize that property, a plan that could create jobs and improve our tax base.

We need change, which will come from Christine Goupil’s leadership. She is a visible presence and participant in meetings, commissions, and public discussions. She views economic development as the linchpin for a turnaround in our town.

The knowledge Christine has gathered, her strong public service background, and her commitment to Clinton make her the ideal person to serve as first selectman.
