Changes that Make Sense

Continuity in local government is a hallmark of success. Our leaders get past the silly season of political campaigns and roll up their sleeves to serve in a non-partisan, unified manner. This year should be no different. Charles Harvda and Sue Renner bring that continuity. Both seek positions on the Board of Selectman (BOS) and both have proven time and again that service over self drives their agenda.

Charles is the only incumbent candidate for the BOS. For the past eight years, he has diligently served under the Mazza administration, trusted to serve as acting first selectman whenever necessary. He worked tirelessly to support efforts to bring our town’s finances under control. He played an integral role in reforming our town’s pension plans, moving from costly plans to plans that will save millions. He strongly advocated the importance of maintaining facilities and infrastructure to ensure we avoid sudden and very costly consequences. As a former local business owner, he understood the importance of sound fiscal management and the need to prioritize our revenue. He does all this without ever seeking personal public recognition or accolades. That speaks volumes about his character.

Sue Renner is also a proven trusted public servant. She brings her skills and experience on the Board of Education to the BOS. Charles and Sue have a keen understanding of how our two major boards interact and often depend on one another. With talk by all candidates to implement cost saving efficiencies across our local government, I can think of no better team than Harvda and Renner to accomplish this task. Their insight on the workings of both boards will be critical to bringing about needed changes that make sense.

Harvda and Renner are the continuity that brings success. I encourage your readers to vote for them.
