An Independent Perspective

Experience counts, but when casting my vote, compassion, creative problem solving, and open communication are equally important. With these qualities in mind, I fully endorse Green candidate Owen Charles for a position on the Board of Finance. There is only one candidate for the Board of Finance who has served on this board before— Owen Charles—making him an obvious choice for one of three open positions.

I have known Owen for a decade, he is neither Democrat nor Republican, but he is a man with bold thoughts who takes honest and well-informed action. A vote for Owen can help bring an independent voice and some needed experience to the Board of Finance.

Owen served on the Board of Finance (2007-2009), but he is offering an independent perspective and an important message you won’t hear from other candidates. He’s advocating for ensuring against conflicts of interest in local government—greater transparency, establishing an Ethics Board, and, especially important in town governance, ensuring adherence to established process and procedure.

In addition to his past experience on the board, Owen has 23 years in business and finance-related roles in clinical research. More important, he has the dedication to listen and seek out public input.

Three Board of Finance positions are open. Three Republicans, one Democrat, one Green are the candidates in the running. I encourage your readers to add an independent voice to town government by making Owen Charles one of their choices for Board of Finance on Nov. 7.
