Ready to Step Up

Recently an apartment complex was approved in Essex that had been fought against for months by many local citizens. Currently under construction next to the Valley Railroad, the project went forward because there was no way to stop the developer due to his inclusion of affordable housing units—but was there really no way to stop it? If Essex had been more proactive in bringing industry and businesses to town, that land would have been used for what it had been zoned for—light industrial—before the developer got a hold of it. This is why we need new leadership in Essex.

Vin Pacileo, the Republican candidate for first selectman, is ready to step up and make Essex a town that businesses, small and large, seek out. A former Essex selectman, Vin currently serves on the Essex Board of Finance and is the chief administrative officer of the Town of Stonington. His private business background includes positions at Pfizer, The Hartford, and Aetna, giving him a wealth of experience in the public and private sectors. His varied skills make him well qualified to recreate Essex as a business-friendly town.

It’s time for a new perspective on moving Essex forward. I encourage your readers to join me in supporting Vin Pacileo for first selectman in November.
