Pragmatic, Inclusive, and Forward-Thinking

Recently, I have started attending the monthly North Haven Democratic Town Committee meetings, and I have been impressed with the positive ideas being shared to improve the quality of life in North Haven. The ideas being expressed to resolve town challenges are pragmatic, inclusive, and forward-thinking.

Drawing on his nearly 40 years of experience as a college institutional researcher and planner, Alan Sturtz, candidate for first selectman, demonstrates strong analytical, assessment, and problem-solving skills. He is a stickler for financial and procedural accountability and believes challenges are opportunities for positive collaboration and growth.

Alan’s running mate for selectman is Sally Buemi, who is a life-long resident of North Haven and has been our third selectman for the past four years. Ms. Buemi has been actively involved in town athletics, community service, and various boards and commissions. Her experience as a lawyer provides the town with a sense of confidence around policy, procedures, and contracts. Her tenacity to see an issue addressed until resolution is to be admired.

I encourage all registered voters to come out on Nov. 7 and support our Board of Selectman team of Alan Sturtz and Sally Buemi. Democratic Town Committee meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at the Mildred Wakely Recreation Center on Linsley Street, North Haven, at 7 p.m. Involvement at the local level of politics is where our voices can be heard most directly and begin to shape both state and national policy. I encourage your readers to come on out and make a difference.
