A Willingness to Listen

Matt Hoey is the first selectman candidate who has demonstrated that we can trust him to lead us with integrity. He believes that government can work for people. He has brought his fiscal expertise and enormous energy to that work.

A spirit of collaboration, a willingness to listen, and a commitment to providing accurate information and truthful responses to tough questions are qualities worthy of our respect and our votes.

His fine leadership of Guilford’s Board of Finance has addressed so many of our citizens’ needs. Taxpayers can appreciate his approach to our town’s budget. In collaboration with other town leaders, he helped to create a sound rainy day fund despite the effects of the economic downturn. He worked with the Board of Education in developing its budget, and we now have a marvelous new high school, built on time and under budget.

As a hiker, I appreciate Matt’s love of our natural resources and his work to preserve Guilford’s open space.

He’s supported Guilford’s seniors staying in their own homes through a bi-partisan Senior Tax Freeze program.

We are so fortunate that Matt is now a candidate for first selectman. On Nov. 7, I encourage your readers to vote Matt Hoey!
