09/27/2017 08:00 AMThe Madison Historical Society wishes to thank Eileen Banisch and Noreen Kokoruda for co-hosting the highly successful “Evening in White” at the historic David Grave House on Sept. 10. More than 18 months ago, the society’s centennial committee began meeting monthly to plan a yearlong celebration to mark its centennial anniversary. Eileen and Noreen quickly stepped up to host this charming event—an international phenomenon that began in France.
The duo had attended a similar event in Durham several years ago and were eager to recreate it in Madison. The elegant, outdoor picnic on a lovely late-summer night brought together nearly 200 Madison residents and friends on the spacious back lawn of the pre-Revolutionary homestead. The co-hosts wanted the event to benefit an organization that the whole community would support. They worked tirelessly to organize and promote the themed party. The society is eternally grateful that they chose us as the beneficiaries of this delightful celebration!
On behalf of the board of trustees, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Eileen and Noreen for recognizing our milestone anniversary and for highlighting the important role the society has in our community—preserving the past for future generations. We thank them for making our centennial celebration unique, creative, and enjoyable for so many.
