Learning Curve is Too Sharp

On Sept. 12, the Democrats in Clinton will vote in a primary to decides who is on the November ballot for first selectman, Board of Selectmen, and Board of Finance. The endorsed slate has no experience in municipal government and has not supported economic development in Clinton—as a matter of fact, the first selectman candidate Christine Goupil has consistently been a road block to development as a member of the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The town is in jeopardy of losing millions in state funding. We had a major development come to a halt because the restrictions placed on the developer by our zoning board made it almost impossible to getting financing. We can’t turn our town over to inexperienced candidates; the learning curve is too sharp and the ship will have sailed before they have learned the ropes.

We need to keep experienced leaders in to move the town forward and get the old Morgan site moving again. Lynn Pinder is just that person. She brings 12 years’ experience, the last five as a selectman, to the table. As the owner of a local business, she understands the challenges facing the business community in Clinton. Lynn has worked through many budgets and effectively manage our departments and their expenditures, Lynn Pinder is what Clinton needs as a first selectman.

I also want to continue to serve the town my family loves. Sondra and I decided to raise our three boys, Will, A.J., and Brady in Clinton nearly 18 years ago. It was at that point I knew I had to get involved and make a difference, so I did. I encourage your readers to allow me to continue as a selectman so I, along with Lynn Pinder, can get us back on track, and to also support incumbent Leah Saunders for Board of Finance by voinge Row “B” on Sept. 12!
