Energy, Expertise, and Experience

As a 12-year member and current vice chair of the Board of Finance, I am pleased and proud that Annie K. Stirna will be running for the Board of Finance this November.

Annie has already proven herself to be a committed and active member of the Killingworth community. In her position on the Board of Directors on the Estuary Council of Seniors, Inc., she worked with First Selectman Cathy Iino to bring the Senior Meal Café to town. She served as president and treasurer of the Haddam-Killingworth Rotary and was instrumental in recruiting members to charter the very first Rotary in either town. Currently, she is chair of the Killingworth Refugee Resettlement Coalition, which works to help resettle refugee families in Middlesex County.

These volunteer efforts are more than matched by her impressive professional qualifications. Annie has performed auditing and commercial tax preparation at a mid-sized public accounting firm. She also served as corporate controller for Inland Book Company, Hunter’s Ambulance Service (which is actually five separate corporations!), and TPA Books, the owner of Atticus Bookstores and Chabaso Bakeries. In her current capacity as owner of Stirna Business Services, she provides accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, benefits administration, payroll, projections, budgets, and business analysis for a wide variety of mid-sized businesses and individuals.

As both her credentials and my personal experience make clear, Annie Stirna will bring energy, expertise, and highly relevant experience to the Board of Finance. She is sure to be a valuable member of the board, and I encourage your readers to join me in voting for her on Nov. 7.
