Must Learn to be Vigilant

Thanks go to First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove for being resilient regarding the recent tragedy in Branford. By his actions and those of Assistant Public Works Director Gary Zielinski, some safety precautions have been established at Tabor Drive. These simple measures, had they been evident years past, might have prevented such an awful event.

Although we all live with this horrific loss, we must learn to be vigilant about the safety of our citizens. That needs to include correcting past negligence that, through no fault due to us, must be addressed. We should not consider what was acceptable in the past to be satisfactory now—an option such as that to people who are concerned, aware, and intelligent is anathema.

My thanks go to both these gentlemen and Public Works for the actions that have been taken.
