Open-Minded and Inclusive

As a relative outsider with a track record of being politically argumentative, it came as a surprise to me when Killingworth’s first selectman invited me to take part in town politics. That seemed like an open-minded and inclusive move on her part. Cathy Iino further demonstrated consistency when she recently suggested we invite a new person, a person with views far different than my own, to join the Killingworth Democratic Town Committee (KDTC).

I had become a member of the KDTC about half a year prior at a time when my dissatisfaction with the national Democratic Party was at a high point. My thoughts and feelings about this were made known to the group, but to my surprise I was never made to feel unwelcome. Also to my surprise and despite my cynicism there hasn’t been anything done by the town committee or Cathy Iino that a reasonable person would find objectionable.

From what I can see Killingworth appears to be governed in a fair and responsible manner. That’s why I’m supporting Cathy Iino for first selectman.
