Experience and Courage

As a member of the Republican Town Committee, I am writing to say how thrilled I am that Ken MacKenzie is running for first selectman of Guilford. He was the first Republican candidate who ever knocked on my door to ask for my vote, and he took the time to explain how the Town of Guilford can rein in needless spending while maintaining the high quality of our schools and town services. He currently serves on our Board of Finance and knows the town budget process extremely well.

He also knows how to run an effective political campaign. I don’t think any other candidate, Republican or Democrat, has the experience or the courage to deal with the fiscal crisis our town is facing more honestly than Ken. Years of bad management by our state government in Hartford is undermining Connecticut’s finances, economy, and job prospects; my retirement; and my children’s future. Money that used to come to Guilford from the state is going to be drastically cut, and we local taxpayers will end up with another tax increase unless we control our spending responsibly.

I believe Ken Mackenzie can do that better than anyone else who is running for office right now. I encourage all registered Republicans to vote for Ken Mackenzie in the primary on Sept. 12 and all Guilford voters to vote for him in the general election on Nov. 7.
