Better than More Stores

I have just read that lengthy explanation as to why the development of the old Morgan school has been delayed.

Instead of Route 81 having added retail space, a revitalization of Route One would be nice to see. There have been dozens of plans offered and as usual nothing has been done.

Rather than retail stores, restaurants, and hotels, why not a cultural center? The school has a very viable auditorium with more seating than the Andrews Memorial Town Hall. The Katharine Hepburn Theater, even though smaller, is doing quite well! We have the Opera Theater of Connecticut in town, as well as the wonderful George Flynn Concert Series and let’s not forget our many theatrical groups and their wonderful professional programs. Why not set up a meeting with Opera Theater of Connecticut, as well as George Flynn Concerts and all those wonderful theater groups we have in town? As I recall, the Goodspeed Theater was looking to move to Middleton, maybe this building would interest them.

Let’s think about it. It may be better than more stores and a hotel.
