A Sad Day

Why would local Republicans choose a keynote speaker such as Michelle Malkin to appear at their kick-off fund raising dinner? She has written a book defending Japanese/American internment in World War II and suggesting current use of racial profiling; has called Medicaid a “handout,” ignoring elderly and disabled recipients; places blame on a woman for staying in a workplace where she experiences sexual harassment; called the outcry over police shootings hysterical nonsense; and tweeted on July 26, “how about DEFUND and ELIMINATE the Department of Education...”

Guilford Republicans were participants in this event. Was there no one who could rally our politicians around the ideas of equality, fairness, and justice? It’s a sad day when Guilford finds its Republican representatives paying to listen to Malkin’s extreme rhetoric.
