Election is Too Vital

As a lifelong Republican, I strongly support Ken MacKenzie for first selectman in the Sept. 12 primary. He is the only Republican who can beat the 24-year incumbent Democrat Matt Hoey. Ken MacKenzie is the only Republican who has proven he can run political campaigns and win elections through hard work and a common-sense message to all voters. He is the only Republican candidate with a proven record of opposing needless spending and taxation on the Board of Finance.

Ken’s opponent in the primary has never held public office or run a political campaign. I am convinced that only a candidate with proven campaigning skills like Ken MacKenzie can beat as entrenched a Democrat as Matt Hoey, and this election is too vital to hand over to the Dems without a fight. Without a tough, proven campaigner like Ken MacKenzie, we stand to lose our Republican majority on the Board of Selectmen, and a vital check on town finances.

I therefore encourage your readers to come out and vote for Ken MacKenzie in the Republican primary on Sept. 12, and in the general election on Nov. 7.
