A Keen Understanding

As a young voter in Clinton, casting my vote in the municipal election, I look for someone with a forward-thinking vision for the town, who truly cares about its residents, and who understands how to grow our local economy. That candidate for the Board of Finance is John Olsen. I encourage all Clinton Democrats to vote at the primary Sept. 12 for John and the two other Democratic Town Committee-endorsed Democrats running for the Board of Finance, Dara Onofrio and Mike Smith.

When I moved to Clinton two years ago with my wife-to be, we looked for ways to get involved and were directed to John Olsen. He was welcoming, invited us over for dinner to talk about Clinton. I quickly learned of John’s commitment to creating a vibrant Clinton with strong economic development, so it remains a great place to live, work, and grow a business.

As the former head of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, John worked with state leaders across party lines to ensure that all workers in the state were paid livable wages and could contribute to their local economies. As a board member for Connecticut Innovations, a leading source for venture capital in the state, he has a keen understanding of what it takes to grow and maintain a successful business in our state. John has brought those insights to his public service in Clinton and will continue to do so on the Board of Finance.

John is an independent thinker, a problem solver, and a bold leader. I will be voting for John for Board of Finance on Sept. 12 and the entire Democratic slate. I encourage others who want to see a growing Clinton to do the same.
