Petition to Halt PZC CVS Decision

I’ve created an online petition opposing the bizarre settlement approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) that would allow a CVS on the most dangerous intersection of Route 1 in Clinton. I believe PZC shouldn’t have voted on the settlement until it held a public hearing. There was nothing preventing PZC from holding a public hearing, so why did it choose not to? Was it intentionally circumventing the public’s right to comment? Hundreds of residents would again turn out in opposition. I think PZC knows that.

Why wasn’t First Selectman Bruce Farmer at the PZC meeting? The community is clearly opposed to this bizarre settlement, which would include allowing CVS a drive-thru where one isn’t permitted. Farmer was elected to represent the community. Why wasn’t he present? Where were the other four selectmen—Willie Fritz, Carol Walter, John Giannotti, Lynn Pinder, all missing. A bizarre agreement that would forever change the most visible and dangerous intersection on Route 1 and not a single selectman shows? Of course, it’s common knowledge Giannotti has a financial interest in the matter, but all of the selectmen should’ve attended this important meeting. They should be doing everything possible to protect the residents of Clinton. They’re not.

With settlements of this sort, the overseeing court is concerned about collusion and fraud. I believe the court should be very concerned with this settlement.

I invite anyone angry about this settlement to sign my petition. The link is www.thepetitionsite.com/636/025/517/call-for-public-hearing-and-referendum-on-cvs-settlement.

The court needs to know that the community’s extremely opposed to this settlement, which would only benefit the owners of the property. The court needs to know that no public hearing was ever held on this settlement. I believe this is so important, it needs to go to referendum, where the public can vote on it.
