Enter the New Age

When I moved to Clinton and married my wife in 2001, she inspired me and suggested I get involved in the Democratic Party. You see, my late mother-in-law, Shirley Kelsey Belcher, had been the registrar of voters. Shirley Belcher’s friend Margery Scully had been the first selectman, twice. Taking that advice from my wife was pure wisdom. Working with other dedicated, like-minded citizens, I have come to care deeply about Clinton and its future.

Throughout the years, I’ve met and supported different candidates for public office, at the town and statewide level. This year, I am pleased to be among the growing group of voters in Clinton who want to see Christine Goupil elected as our next first selectman.

Those of us who know and have worked with Christine know she is a bright, dedicated, hardworking volunteer, wife, and mother. Among her many accomplishments, she has served two terms on the Planning & Zoning Commission, where she learned so much about the economic and business conditions in our town.

I believe Clinton is ready for Christine’s leadership. We must enter the new age, where fresh ideas and youthful vigor motivate us all to make, as Christine says, “Clinton, the jewel of the shoreline.” I encourage my fellow residents of Clinton to join me in backing Christine Goupil in the September primary and November general election.
