An Added Expense

I just read an article in the July 6 Harbor News [“Clinton Charter Revision Commission Proposes Changes”] that stated our town government in Clinton is mulling over the idea of a town manager at $130,000 per year. Why? The duties that they described for the candidate are what the first selectman and town government are supposed to be doing now.

One of the things that was pointed out was economic development is non existent. The biggest reason for no economic development is the very high mill rate!

A town manager is another level of bureaucracy. A friend or a relative of an influential person in town would likely get the job and it is an added expense that Clinton does not need.
